Houses destroyed in landslides in Barra do Sahy, in São Sebastião, after storms on the north coast of São Paulo

In February this year, heavy rains devastated the North Coast of São Paulo, causing landslides and leaving dozens dead.

At the time, the most affected city was São Sebastião. Vila Sahy, on the southern coast of the municipality, was the hardest hit by landslides and was completely destroyed. The location accounts for most of the victims of the tragedy. Another city hit was Ubatuba.

Caraguatatuba, Guarujá and Bertioga also suffered losses and had residents homeless and displaced.

The tragedy is the greatest involving the rains
already registered in Brazil in 24 hours, according to data from the National Center for Monitoring and Natural Disaster Alerts (Cemaden) and the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).
