The Lottery announced this morning (Monday) the five short-listed candidates for the Sapir Prize for 2023. The announcement will be made at a ceremony to be held at the end of February.

The five finalists for the award are:

Ofra Ofer Oren, “What happened to immigrating in Eilat” (Kinneret Zamora Beitan). “Biotope” by: Orly Castel-Bloom, published by Siman Kraya Books of the United Kibbutz. “Ho-Mama” by: Tami Bezaleli, published by Afik Seferot Israeli. “Life” by Gil Haravan, published by Hazut Beit. “Teeth Marks” by: Hanoch Marmari published by Keter.

Each of the candidates will receive a grant of NIS 60,000. And the winner of 180 thousand shekels and the book will be translated and published in the Arabic language and translated into another foreign language, according to his choice.

In addition to this, the lottery will purchase 500 books from the books of the candidates and from the “book of debutantes” category, and will give them as a gift to public libraries throughout the country.

The Sapir Prize has been awarded for the 23rd year, and the total of all the prizes that will be distributed this year is 765 thousand shekels. Oren Nahari was the head of the jury this year as well.
