Sara bint Abdurrahman Assayed, a former assistant deputy minister in the Saudi Ministry of Health, has been appointed as the deputy foreign minister in charge of diplomatic affairs. The appointment order was issued by Foreign Minister Amir Faisal bin Farhan.

Sara graduated from George Mason University, USA in 2007 with a degree in Health Systems Management and held the position of Assistant Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Health between 2019 and 2022.

He served as General Director of International Cooperation in the same Ministry during 2017-19 and as Regional Director of Houston Methodist Hospital in Saudi Arabia during 2016-17.

During 2015-16, he held the position of Specialist for Organizational Development and International Cooperation at King Abdullah University Hospital and in 2015, he was the Director of the Youth Center Department at King Khalid Foundation.

He has held positions including Contracts Officer of the Military Attaché in the Office of the Saudi Armed Forces in the United States for three years since 2012, Assistant Branch Manager of M&T Bank in the United States for eight years since 2004, and Chief Teller at Provident Bank prior to that.
