About the author

Olga García Yero (Sancti Spíritus, 1954), Doctor in Philological Sciences and Doctor of Sciences from the University of Havana. Professor and Senior Researcher at the University of Camagüey. She has published various books of literary essays, Cuban cultural thought, art and film criticism in Cuban publishing houses. Her essays and her studies on gender have appeared in Cuban and foreign magazines. She has received different recognitions such as the Distinction for National Culture. Among her last published books are La Avellaneda: historical novel and contextualizationco-authored with Luis Álvarez, and Flora Fong: landscape and insularity.

About the presenter

Nancy Morejon. Poet, essayist, journalist, literary and theater critic, and translator. Graduated in French Language and Literature from the University of Havana, in 1966. Full member of the Cuban Academy of Language since 1999. She served as Advisor to Casa de las Américas and as President of the Writers Association of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), concluded the VII Congress of this institution in April 2008. She is currently the director of the magazine Union. He has more than thirty books of poems published. His essays include: Paul Laraque: Everyday weapons, Nicole Cage Florentiny: Rainbow, hope, Ernest Pépin: Remolino de palabras libre y Edouard Glissant: Fastos and other poems. He holds, among many other recognitions, the “Enrique José Varona” National Essay Prize, from the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (1980); the National Literature Prize (2001); the Replica of the Machete by Máximo Gómez (2013); the Youth Master Distinction awarded by the Hermanos Saíz Association (2013) and the Alejo Carpentier Medal (2021).
