“Loop” (Hebrew: “Loop”) is the name of the song that will be performed by the singer Sarah Bonnici (Sarah Bonnici), who will represent Malta in Eurovision 2024 to be held in Malmö, Sweden. Bonici’s poetry was written by the singer herself together with Kevin Lee (Kevin Lee), Larry Gutsey Angel (Leire Gotxi Angel), Michael Joe Sinai (Michael Joe Cini) and Sebastian Pritchard-James (Sebastian Pritchard-James). This is the first song of these writers in the competition and it is performed entirely in English.

The winner of the preview was determined by a combination of the judges’ vote and the audience’s vote, which was open for two days. Sara Bonnici came in first place in the Eurovision preview after winning the judges’ vote and coming in second place in the audience’s vote. During the evening, for the first time, prizes were awarded to the participants in the competition, when Lisa Gauci (Lisa Gauci) won the award for the best music video, andGreta Toda (Greta Tude) won the Best New Talent Award.

During the final show, Malta’s representatives for Eurovision 2023 appeared on stage, the band De Basker (The Busker), and Malta’s representative for Junior Eurovision 2023, Yolan Lowe (Yulan Law).

We would like to emphasize that based on previous years, the winner of the competition will represent Malta but will be given the opportunity to perform a different song at Eurovision. This is what happened in 2016 when the singer Ira Lusko (Ira Losco) won early with the song “Chameleon” but performed the song “Walk on Water” in Eurovision, and also in 2022 when Emma Muscat (Emma Muscat) won the preliminaries with the song “Out of Sight” but chose to sing the song “I Am What I Am” at Eurovision.

Maltese Eurovision pre-results:

  • Sarah Bonnici – “Loop” – 102
  • Matt Blxck – “Banana” – 80
  • Ryan Hili – “Karma” – 71
  • Four – “Sirena” – 56

Sarah Bonnici – Who are you?

Sarah Bonnici (Sarah Bonnici) is a 25-year-old Maltese singer. In 2009, when she was ten years old, she competed in the pre-Maltese Eurovision Song Contest for the Junior Eurovision with the song “The Mambo song”, with which she came in third place. Sarah is no stranger to the Eurovision world, when in 2022 she took part in the Maltese Eurovision preview with the song “Heaven”, with which she reached 12th place.

    “Loop” lyrics:

Don’t you know that you got me
That you got me, yeah, me, yeah

    Got me so hot
    Burning up like a fever
    I’m a honeypot
    Never tasted nothing sweeter
Thought you could turn me down
    No no no
    Let’s go another round
    Slow

Don’t you tell me I’m your addiction
It was obvious you’d end up like this

Not my fault that you got-got-got me on (Loop)
I’m all in, but the blame-blame-blame is on (You)
I’m a tease and, oh God, you love it when I
    M-m-m-move, m-m-m-move
In your head all night you got me on
Got me on, got me on
    Loop

Cherry on top, you’re the cinnamon
Making my heart skip a little bit
    Like, “Ra-pa-pa-bam-ba, ra-pa-pa-bam-ba”, yeah
You know how to spin me, boy

Don’t you know you’re my, my addiction
It was obvious we’d end up like this

Not my fault that you got-got-got me on (Loop)
I’m all in, but the blame-blame-blame is on (You)
I’m a tease and, oh God, you love it when I
    M-m-m-move, m-m-m-move
In your head all night you got me on
Got me on, got me on
    Loop

    Ooh
    Ooh

It was obvious we’re addicted, addicted
    Yeah, it was obvious
    Here we go again
    Huh

    (Loop)
I’m all in, but the blame-blame-blame is on (You)
I’m a tease and, oh God, you love it when I
    M-m-m-move, m-m-m-move
In your head all night you got me on
Got me on, got me on
    Loop (Ah)
