The Central District Military Court in Samara sentenced Saratov activist Sergei Ryzhov to six years in a strict regime colony on charges of preparing terrorist attacks and illegal possession of explosives. He also has to pay a fine of 20 thousand rubles.

Sergey Ryzhov was detained on November 1, 2017 as a supporter of the Artpodgotovka movement, which was recognized as a terrorist and banned in Russia. During a search, FSB officers found a traumatic pistol, a TNT stick and several Molotov cocktails on him. The investigation believed that he was planning an explosion on the Teatralnaya Square in Saratov on November 5.

The state prosecution requested that he be sentenced to 10.5 years in prison. During the preliminary investigation and at the trial, Sergei Ryzhov denied his guilt and insisted that the explosives had been planted on him during the search.
