Sardinia develops the machine for rapid tests in ports and airports

by time news

Time.news – The Sardinia Region, with civil protection and the Department of Health, is developing the ‘machine’ for checks in ports and airports in view of the mandatory testing for those arriving on the island. We start next Monday. About 200 people involved who will take turns in the stations that are being set up in the airports. Of these, about a hundred are from the regional civil protection, about fifty from the Ats and the others from the monitoring teams of the tensile structures that are set up in the ports.

Traffic at airports is expected to be limited

In each of the airports of Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero there will be a reception structure that can provide from two to four stations depending on the flow of passengers. “However, we expect very limited traffic”, the director of civil protection, Antonio Belloi, explained to Time.news. At the moment, for example, about a thousand arrivals per day are recorded at Cagliari airport with seven flights from Rome and Milan. It is possible that in the next few days they will increase, thanks to Ryanair’s connections with Pisa and Bergamo, but not by much. The facilities in the airports will be in the arrivals area and all inside the airport. The support of the Polaria is also foreseen.

Inflatable tensile structures in ports

In the maritime ports, where the checks will start on Tuesday, inflatable tensile structures will be mounted: up to five in Cagliari, two or three in Olbia, two in Porto Torres and one respectively in Golfo Aranci and Santa Teresa di Gallura.
The ‘base module’ for the buffer is made up of three doctors (one in charge of reporting and two of checking the reports and vaccination certificates), three nurses (two test workers and one support) and two administrators (one for acceptance and another for loading the reports).

Anyone who is not in possession of a vaccination certificate or which certifies the negativity to Covid, will have to undergo a swab within 48 hours, and communicate the report to the health authority, or put themselves in quarantine for 10 days. Alternatively, it can be subjected to antigen tests in the stations set up in the airports: the result will arrive within 15 minutes. If it is positive, you will be asked to do the molecular swab for possible confirmation. In this case, he will have to go to the address indicated pending the result.

“This is a very strict protocol”, underlined Belloi for whom “we will use a setting similar to that used last year at the beginning of the pandemic for measuring the temperature of passengers arriving in Sardinia”.
