Presenter Daniel Boschmann “almost suffocated” in a restaurant. He uses the horror experience in Berlin to make a powerful appeal.

In an Instagram video, Daniel Boschmann talked about a personal emergency that happened to him a few days ago. The incident took place on Friday evening in a “cult restaurant in Berlin” that was “packed” at the time, reports the “Sat.1 breakfast television” presenter.

In the clip, Boschmann describes the moment of shock in the third person. But in the description of the video, he immediately makes it clear: “The guy almost suffocated. I was the guy.” In the video, he describes the situation in the restaurant as follows: “It’s really loud, people are standing in line outside, wanting to get in. Suddenly a guy stands up in the middle of the restaurant and can’t breathe anymore and slowly turns white, his eyes are wide open.”

Then someone shouted: “We need a doctor. The restaurant is quiet. You can’t hear anything, everyone is glued to their seats and just looks in that direction. Suddenly a waiter comes running up and tries the Heimlich maneuver on the guy to make something happen, but nothing happens. He still can’t breathe and is losing his color.”

Fortunately, the situation had a positive outcome. Boschmann continues: “Then he coughs once, finally gets some air again and then says: ‘I hope everyone has a nice evening.’ That guy was me.”

The emergency has obviously made the presenter think. “What do you do when someone can’t breathe anymore?” he asks his Instagram community. “Most people wouldn’t know. How do you do a Heimlich maneuver, how does first aid work when it really gets to that point?”

The last time he dealt with it was for his driver’s license. “Dramatic enough. I’ll do it again and you can contact one of these organizations here and then we’ll know what to do if someone is almost choking in a restaurant.” Boschmann referred to various aid organizations that offer first aid courses and were enthusiastic about his appeal in the comments. One of the comments reads: “Luckily you’re fine! And thank you very much for this reminder.”
