A new case of Christophobia was registered in Fortaleza last Friday, October 20, with a new church being attacked with offensive graffiti and the disposal of animal remains by Satanists.

An evangelical church had already been attacked on Wednesday, October 18, when Satanists left a cat dismembered and a note praising Lucifer. Now, the São Bento Monastery has been spray-painted with Nazi threats and symbols. The criminals also left parts of a cat in the temple.

The priest responsible for the temple, Dom Marcos, found the graffiti and the remains at around 5:50 am, shortly after the first mass of the day. He called the police, and the case is now being investigated.

Dom Marcos declared that these acts are a clear manifestation of religious intolerance, which constitutes a crime, adding that if the intention of the criminals is to cause intimidation, they are only messing with the faith of the faithful and the result will be the opposite.

The priest also stated that the church will erase the graffiti, signaling its willingness to confront criminals.

Pastor Yago Martins commented on the episode on his account on case in two days here in Fortaleza. But for xuiteiro, there is no Christophobia in Brazil”, he wrote.

Yago has been one of the few voices to denounce initiatives that aim to intimidate Christians, such as the arrest of pastor Aijalon Berto Florêncio, from Dunamis, who stated that entities of Afro-Brazilian religions are understood as demons according to biblical doctrine.

“Any religion other than Christian is false. Every sacrifice made to other gods is made of demons. In Islam, they worship demons. In Candomblé, they worship demons. In Umbanda, they worship demons. If every pastor is going to be arrested for preaching what the Bible says, let us all be arrested”, he argued in a publication published last Wednesday.
