L’Parks and Gardens Association of Italy (Apgi) notes with satisfaction that the National Recovery and Resilience Plan contains measures in favor of the heritage of Italian parks and gardens. “A choice that recognizes the statute and the historical and artistic dignity of Italian gardens, in addition to their extraordinary environmental and landscape value”, declares Ambassador Ludovico Ortona, President of Apgi, a national association that includes the major realities dedicated to the care and enhancement of parks and gardens.
“Perhaps for the first time – underlines the release of the Apgi – there is the concrete possibility that a virtuous circle will be triggered capable of holding together, in a finally organic vision, census and digitization, training and protection, restoration and enhancement, on which Apgi has carried out a constant work of raising awareness and planning over the years. Italian gardens are authentic open-air museums: the time is ripe for a systematic and coherent enhancement of the green heritage of our country, an area in which Apgi is front line thanks to the Garden Route Italia project, developed in agreement with the Ministry of Culture, which aims to relaunch the cultural use of parks and gardens. A precious opportunity to create qualified jobs – which require suitable training courses -, spread historical and environmental awareness and activate, thanks to sustainable and widespread tourism, virtuous processes of regeneration of tea rritori “, concludes the Apgi.
