College Football Bowl Games Schedule for the Final Quarter

As the new year approaches, college football fans can enjoy the final quartet of bowl games before the calendar turns to 2024. This year, several of these bowl games that are traditionally contested on New Year’s Eve will be taking place a day earlier.

There are no prime-time offerings on Saturday, so fans will have to find something else to occupy their evening. The schedule includes the next two of the so-called New Year’s Six pairings, although the level of engagement from the participants might not be optimal.

The Peach Bowl will feature No. 10 Penn State facing off against No. 11 Mississippi at noon on ESPN. The game will showcase the high-octane, high-speed Ole Miss attack against Penn State’s top-ranked defense. The Nittany Lions are looking to prove themselves in a major bowl game, while the Rebels are seeking to establish themselves among the SEC’s elite.

The Music City Bowl at 2 p.m. on ABC will see Auburn take on Maryland. With the Terrapins’ QB Taulia Tagovailoa off to the NFL, Auburn QB Payton Thorne will lead the Tigers’ offense against a Maryland defense anchored by S Glendon Miller.

In the Orange Bowl at 4 p.m. on ESPN, No. 3 Florida State will face off against No. 6 Georgia. Both teams may be missing key players, but Georgia QB Carson Beck will return next season hoping to lead the Bulldogs to success.

Finally, the Arizona Bowl at 4:30 p.m. on The CW will feature Toledo against Wyoming. This mid-major duel in the desert will be the swan song for Cowboys coach Craig Bohl as he rides off into retirement.

With several bowl games to choose from, football fans are in for an exciting weekend as they prepare to welcome the new year.
