Manama > Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein AmirAbdullahian will meet in Beijing on Thursday to restore diplomatic ties. The news agency reported that the opening of embassies and appointment of ambassadors will be discussed in both countries. It is the first time in seven years that the senior diplomats of the two countries are holding a formal meeting. Ahead of Thursday’s talks, the foreign ministers of the two countries held three phone talks in line with the China-brokered Charatra-key agreement. In the third phone conversation held on March 23, it was agreed to hold a bilateral meeting to start the process of reopening embassies and consulates in both countries. China played a great role in facilitating communication and reaching an agreement between the two countries. Both sides urged to respect the sovereignty of countries and refrain from interfering in their internal affairs. It was decided to activate all joint deals including cooperation in the fields of security, finance, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, youth and sports. The agreement is to implement the agreement within 60 days. The meeting on Thursday is part of this. After seven years, the two countries are re-establishing diplomatic relations.
