/ The first round of the Asian Football Cup, which is currently taking place in the Qatari capital, Doha, has concluded with the participation of 24 teams divided into six groups.
The Saudi national team defeated its Omani counterpart 2-1 in the last match of the first round of the Asian Football Championship.
The match took place at 8:30 pm at Khalifa International Stadium.
The first half ended with the Omani team leading Saudi Arabia by one goal to none. Oman’s goal came from a penalty kick successfully executed by Salah Al Yahyaei in the 14th minute.
In the second half, the Saudi team scored the equaliser in the 78th minute with an individual effort by player Abdulrahman Ghareeb. Saudi Arabia scored the second goal through player Ali Al-Bulaihi in the 90+6th minute.
The Japanese team topped Group 4 after the end of the first round matches with three points, followed by the Iraqi team in second place with three points as well, but it came in second on goal difference from its Japanese counterpart, then the Vietnamese team in third place and Indonesia in fourth place on goal difference from the Vietnamese team.
