The Ministry of Justice has announced that three foreign law firms have been granted permission to operate in Saudi Arabia. The license was granted at the International Justice Conference which concluded in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia granted licenses to three foreign law firms
The licenses were issued after the cabinet meeting approved the amendments to the Code of Law Practice. The licenses were handed over to Herbert Smith Freehills, Latham Watkins and Clifford Chance by Justice Minister Walid Al Zamani and Investment Minister Khalid Alfalih.
In Saudi Arabia, only native lawyers were allowed to practice in the courts. In January, the Ministry of Justice announced that foreign law firms would be granted licenses to practice.

The new decision will help develop the legal profession and increase the efficiency of lawyers. Law Minister Walid Al Zamani said that it is desirable for foreign law firms to come to the country to improve the business and investment environment in the country.
