Saudi Arabia is conducting negotiations for the realization of the “Land Bridge” project

by time news

The Saudi Minister of Transportation, Saleh Al-Jasser, confirmed earlier this week that the kingdom is continuing the implementation of the huge land transportation project known as the “Land Bridge.” The project includes the laying of railway tracks that will connect the east of the country with the west for thousands of kilometers. According to what is known, it is planned that the bridge will go from the city of Yanowa to the port of King Abdullah to the city of Jeddah and from there to the capital Riyadh. After that, the project will be connected to the railway network in the north of the kingdom and from there to the railway network in the east.

During an investment conference held in Riyadh, the Saudi minister stated: “The detailed plans for the project are ready, the route of the bridge has been determined, and negotiations are currently underway with a consortium of international companies led by a Chinese company regarding the final cost and financing.”

Al Jasser also stated that Saudi Arabia has another option in the negotiations in case the agreement with the consortium of international companies fails, as it will turn to the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign fund of the kingdom, to implement the bridge project.

Al Jasser did not specify the length of time needed for the implementation of the bridge and its full or partial entry into service.
