On Sunday, Saudi Arabia announced the provision of monthly financial support to “brothers in Palestine to contribute to addressing the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings,” and directives to provide medical and relief aid to the Lebanese people, in support of them in facing the current difficult circumstances.
The official news agency SPA reported that this decision comes “within the framework of the Saudi leadership’s keenness to provide all forms of assistance to the Palestinian people to alleviate the effects of the suffering caused by Israeli violations of international laws and norms.”
The statement indicated that the total Saudi humanitarian, relief and development aid provided to the Palestinian people exceeded $5.3 billion.
Saudi Arabia affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom’s leadership to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, enabling the Palestinian people to obtain all their legitimate rights and establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also issued directives to provide medical and relief aid to the Lebanese people, in support of them in facing the current difficult circumstances.
The official news agency “SPA” reported that the leadership in Saudi Arabia is following with great concern the developments of events in the Lebanese Republic, and stresses the importance of preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, said before the United Nations General Assembly that the escalation in Lebanon “will not achieve security and stability for any party, and portends dangerous consequences, expanding the scope of violence and wars, and increasing the threat to the security and stability of the region.”
Saudi Arabia also affirmed its support for the Lebanese people in facing the repercussions of these events, stressing the need to limit their humanitarian impacts.
The Kingdom called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to protect regional peace and security and avoid the region and its peoples from the dangers and tragedies of war.
