Saudi Arabia ready to impose huge fines if falsified bill

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has taken strong action against traders who falsify the bill. The decision to impose a fine of 5,000 riyals on those who falsify the bill or do not install electronic billing in businesses. The action is after December 4th.

Those who falsify the bill will be fined up to 10,000 riyals. There will be an extensive inspection of the shops after December 4th. The inspection will be led by the Zakat-Tax and Customs Authority of Saudi Arabia.

As per the earlier announced decision, the electronic billing system should be implemented by December 4. Paper bills written in pen after this date will not be legally valid. The directive also stipulates that electronic bills of institutions must contain the QR code and tax information.
