The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs dismissed the imams who delivered Friday sermons in Saudi Arabia. A local newspaper reported that several imams were dismissed for deputing people to deliver Friday ‘khutba’ (sermons) without informing the ministry.
Many imams are under investigation after it was noticed that they preached against the ministry notification. It was found that the khutba was being delivered by sending substitutes without obtaining permission. Then action was taken.
