The Ministry of Health indicated that the number of monkeypox cases in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has risen to three, as the ministry’s spokesperson revealed that the triple infected people were returning from abroad, specifically from Europe, amid health restrictions in the Kingdom on all returnees from abroad.

The first case in the Kingdom

On July 14, 2022, the Saudi Ministry of Health announced the monitoring of the first case of monkey disease in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, for a person returning from abroad, and the ministry assured all citizens and expatriates that the case was subject to health care in accordance with the procedures announced by the World Health Organization.

The ministry added that all those in contact with the case were counted, and it also confirmed the continuation of all monitoring and follow-up work on the developments of that dreaded disease, and that it is announced with all transparency, and about the cases that are monitored, stressing its ability to deal with any development of that disease.

On the other hand, the World Health Organization launched a state of high alert on Saturday, in order to contain the outbreak of the virus, which managed to 17,000 people in 74 countries and that most of them are in Europe.
