The Savannah Bananas and Texas Tailgaters survived dramatic playoff series over the weekend to advance to the inaugural Banana Bowl. The championship game will stream live on Disney+ on October 10 from Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., bringing together all six teams for the league’s first title showdown.
Semifinal Drama at Grayson Stadium
The postseason road to Washington proved unforgiving for the higher seeds as lower-seeded teams claimed opening victories. The Party Animals opened the bracket on October 1 with a victory over the top-seeded Bananas at Historic Grayson Stadium. Friday brought another upset when the No. 3 seed Loco Beach Coconuts defeated the No. 2 seed Texas Tailgaters 3-2.
Both the Bananas and the Tailgaters found themselves facing elimination, requiring a game victory followed by a separate tie-breaking Showdown to level their series. The Bananas erased a late deficit against the Party Animals on Saturday, scoring three runs in the ninth inning to take a 4-3 win before DR Meadows secured the deciding Showdown point.
In their semifinal matchup against the Party Animals, the Bananas found themselves trailing after Jake Skole delivered an RBI single to move the opponents ahead, while a Trick Play Equalizer point helped build a 3-1 advantage heading into the ninth inning.
Originally starting out solely with the Savannah Bananas, Banana Ball has evolved into the six-team Banana Ball Championship League, providing supporters with four days of consecutive playoff matchups at Historic Grayson Stadium, where evening performances see gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

Texas Tailgaters Clinch Championship Berth
Outfielder Zach Watson jump-started the squad early for Texas by executing a stunning backflip catch that fired up the spectators.
Kyle Martin added a seventh-inning two-run home run soaring to right-center field, while pitcher Brett Sanchez limited the Coconuts to just one run, recording three strikeouts and allowing six hits across seven innings on the mound.
Nick Lopez delivered the decisive point in the subsequent Showdown, sending Texas through to the title game. Utility player Zach Watson captured the team’s reaction after the final out.
“That game was phenomenal, we pulled out the tricks, the bats came later on. That play at the plate when Indy slide, dove over and freaking touched home, oh my gosh that got us going right there. I’ve got chills thinking about it, we’re ready.”

Tailgaters outfielder Kyle Martin expressed pride in how the roster handled season-long adversity, noting that the group continued to fight through injuries and challenges to reach the championship stage. Teammate Brant Allen described the feeling of reaching the Banana Bowl as surreal, highlighting the close brotherhood and chemistry built throughout the year.

The 2026 Regular Season Standings
The postseason battles followed an expansive 2026 regular season that saw the league grow to six teams, including the Savannah Bananas, Party Animals, Firefighters, Texas Tailgaters, Indianapolis Clowns, and Loco Beach Coconuts. The Savannah Bananas secured the top playoff seed, while the Tailgaters earned the number two seed.
The Coconuts finished their regular season in third place under Primetime Coach Shane Victorino, who was introduced during the Banana Ball City Selection Show at Historic Grayson Stadium.
Nationals Park Prepares for the Banana Bowl
The inaugural championship matchup will stream live on Disney+ and Disney’s YouTube channel on Saturday, October 10, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern, presented ad-free by Liberty Mutual Insurance.
While the dancing, costumes, and on-field antics define the entertainment experience, league officials emphasize that game outcomes remain unscripted and competitive as the teams prepare to crown the first league champion.
