Save on Fuel: How to Find the Cheapest Gas Prices Using Google Maps

by time news

The price of fuel is something that concerns all of us who drive cars. Especially when we are thinking about going on a trip and covering a long distance, the consumption of fuel spikes during this time. That’s why it’s important to check where the price is cheaper on our route before we stop to refuel. You can do this with Google Maps.

Check fuel prices on your trips

Google’s GPS application offers us a wide selection of features, not only for the purpose it was originally created for, which is to guide us from one place to another. We also have many more options such as saving regular routes, searching for restaurants, supermarkets, cafes, hotels, parks, or what interests us now, gas stations.

From the menu we find at the top of the screen before starting a route, we have the option to see not only where the nearest gas stations are located, but we can also check the fuel prices at each of them.

  • To access the gas stations tab, you just have to swipe the menu to the left until you find it.
  • By clicking on it, a floating window appears from the bottom of the screen where we can select the gas station we want to get more information about.
  • Or simply by clicking on any of the pins on the map, we can access the expanded data. Where we can see the prices of other fuels.
  • In our case, it will be SP95 gasoline.
  • This is something we could already do some time ago; for now, it’s not necessary to select any of the gas stations to access the information. Instead, it automatically appears overlaid on the map, and with a simple glance, we can see the current fuel prices.
  • We can set the type of fuel our vehicle uses; to do that, we just need to go to the app settings by tapping on the profile picture.
  • In this section, find the option “your vehicles”, where several options will appear to choose from, such as gasoline, Diesel, hybrid, or electric.
  • Once you have chosen the type of vehicle, go back to the navigation screen.

This allows us to navigate the map in search of the lowest price and head to the gas station in question following the app’s navigation instructions. The price of fuels varies depending on the autonomous community we are in or simply due to supply and demand, so we should stay vigilant and check this feature from time to time. This enables us to compare prices quickly and easily, identifying which have the highest and lowest prices, and whether it’s worth traveling there to fill up. Or if the savings are not enough to justify the travel expenses.
