Kolkata: Shreyas Iyer has made his Test debut with a century. Shreyas made his debut against New Zealand in Kanpur. Shreyas’ performance proved that the team management’s decision was not wrong. Shreyas also scored a half-century in the second innings. Shreyas was later selected in the Test squad for the tour of South Africa.

The real test for Shreyas is about to begin. It is found on hard South African soil. This is exactly what BCCI President Sourav Ganguly says. “He has averaged 52 runs in domestic cricket over the last 10 years. His performance in the Test against the Kiwis was excellent. But the real test is against South Africa. The fast bowlers in South Africa and England are expected to give him a good performance, ”said Ganguly.

Shreyas is likely to play in South Africa. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara may play in the absence of form. But with the emphasis on experience, senior players may get another chance. If he does not reach the form, Shreyas will be brought. Hanuma Vihari is also in the team. Earlier, Rahane was removed from the post of vice-captain.

India, who have yet to win a Test series in South Africa, have high hopes this time around. The Indian bowling rate is good enough to respond to South Africa’s pace attack in the same way.
