Hisar: Savitri Jindal, mother of BJP MP from Kurukshetra Naveen Jindal, has filed nomination as an independent candidate from Hisar seat for Haryana assembly elections. Savitri Jindal was claiming ticket from BJP for Haryana assembly elections. But BJP did not give her ticket. She filed nomination on the last day of nomination. Savitri Jindal has declared movable assets worth Rs 190 crore in her affidavit filed for Haryana assembly elections. According to the election affidavit, her immovable property is worth Rs 80 crore. According to this, she has total assets worth Rs 270 crore. According to the latest affidavit, Savitri owns diamond and silver jewellery worth Rs 20 crore. In the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections, Savitri had declared her total assets as Rs 108.17 crore. In 2009, she had declared her total assets as around Rs 44 crore. Savitri Jindal was elected MLA from Hisar seat twice. She won the Hisar seat in the Haryana Assembly for the first time as a Congress MLA in 2005. She was re-elected from the seat in 2009 and was made a minister in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in 2013. She lost the 2014 assembly elections. She had quit the Congress in March this year when her son Naveen Jindal also quit the party and later joined the BJP. Naveen won the Kurukshetra seat on a BJP ticket in the 2024 general elections.
