The end of more than two weeks of research. The body of Maël Briand, a young 23-year-old seasonal worker, was found this Sunday in a stream located in a hamlet in the town of Méribel, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie. “It was the gendarmes of Moûtiers, Méribel and the nautical brigade of Aix-les-Bains who found him”, specifies the radio.

The family of the young man also confirmed his death with the Telegram. However, no details were made on the circumstances of the death. “He would have been found near a place at the edge of the water. We were told there would be an autopsy. We don’t know if it’s drowning or murder, ”testified his sister Yaëlle to France 3 Bretagne.

Untraceable since January 19

Originally from La Chapelle-aux-Filtzméens, a town between Rennes and Saint-Malo, the young man arrived in the region in January to work as a cook in a restaurant in Méribel.

He had not given any sign of life since January 19. The gendarmes had found his trace on CCTV images dating back to January 20 in the morning, but that had not made it possible to find Maël, underlines Le Dauphiné Libéré. Gendarmerie teams had been mobilized since the disappearance of the young man, as well as helicopters and dog teams. A call for witnesses had also been issued by the authorities.
