Savoie: three men from the same family die in a frontal collision in the car

The shock was extremely violent. And the drama came to decimate a family. It was around 4 p.m. this Saturday when two vehicles, traveling on national road 90, which connects the two huge ski areas of La Plagne and Bourg-Saint-Maurice (Savoie), collided.

A frontal impact, according to our colleagues from France Bleu, claimed the lives of a father, his son and his nephew. They were aged 17, 21 and 48 according to the emergency services, quoted by France 3. Heavy resources had been deployed by the firefighters (with around twenty men) and the Smur which had two helicopters land on the road.

The three victims were from La Plagne

Because in the second vehicle, which could be a pick-up according to the first elements, a 21-year-old young woman was driving. She was seriously injured and therefore airlifted to the University Hospital Center (CHU) in Grenoble (Isère). According to initial findings and the mayor of the town, the three deceased victims were from La Plagne.

For nearly three hours, the road, very busy at this time of the season, was cut off from traffic. According to Autoroute info 107.7, more than 20 km of traffic jams were recorded at that time. Several other axes have been affected by traffic restrictions in order to preserve the secondary axes for the emergency services.

In a press release, the prefecture of Savoie specifies that “the circumstances of the accident will be determined within the framework of a judicial investigation”.
