Savukku Sankar gets conditional bail Egmore Court order

The Chennai Egmore Court has granted conditional bail to political critic Chavik Shankar in all 4 cases arrested by the Central Crime Branch police.

Political commentator Chavku Shankar used to give political opinions in the media and YouTube channels. Madras High Court Judge G.R. The Madurai branch of the High Court filed a contempt of court case against Chavku Shankar for posting defamatory comments about Swaminathan on social media. After hearing the contempt of court case against Chavku Shankar, Judges G.R. Swaminathan, B. Bhujahendi sentenced Chavuk Shankar to 6 months in prison. Subsequently, Chavku Shankar was imprisoned in Madurai Jail. Later, he was transferred to Cuddalore Jail.

Following this, Saduku Shankar appealed to the Supreme Court against the 6-month jail sentence he was sentenced to in the contempt of court case. Hearing this petition, the Supreme Court granted an interim stay on the order of 6 months imprisonment imposed on Chavik Shankar by the Madurai branch of the High Court. Further, it was stipulated that till the next hearing of the case, Chavku Shankar should not make any comments regarding the case.

As a result, while it was expected that Chavku Shankar would be released, the Central Crime Branch police arrested Chavku Shankar on the 11th under 4 cases registered in the years 2020 and 2021.

In this case, the Egmore court has granted conditional bail to Chavku Shankar, who was arrested by the Central Crime Branch police in all 4 cases filed against him. Also, the Egmore court has granted bail with a condition not to talk about this case outside anywhere.
