For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses involved in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations of all sizes, the SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to help them cover working capital needs caused by the disaster. Loan interest rates can be as low as 4 percent for businesses, 2.375 percent for private nonprofit organizations and 2.5 percent for homeowners and renters for terms up to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are established by the SBA and are based on the financial conditions of each applicant.

Interest does not begin to accrue until 12 months after the date of the initial disbursement of the disaster loan. SBA disaster loan repayment begins 12 months from the date of the first disbursement.
