Account holders in nationalized banks have different experiences, and more negative experiences than positive ones. Because of these negative experiences, there are many who feel that nationalized banks are not desirable. I will share with you my experience with the bank management who made me withdraw money from State Bank of India (SBI) ATM and said that I did not receive the money, and after that I sought a solution from the Reserve Bank. I hope my experience will be useful to each of them.

what happened?

On 10.01.2023 at 6.07 am in the ATM center attached to State Bank of India, Chennai, Mahakavi Bharati Nagar branch, when I made a transaction to withdraw 5 thousand rupees, after the transaction was completed, the money did not come out of the machine, only the receipt came as if the money had been withdrawn. Immediately after doing another transaction at the nearby ATM machine in the same center, I withdrew 5 thousand rupees and when I printed out the mini statement, it came out that I had withdrawn 5 thousand rupees twice. Since the amount not transacted will be returned to our account, after an hour, when we downloaded the transaction report online again, it was reported that the money was withdrawn twice.

Talk and talk to no avail:

When I immediately contacted the customer service center and complained, they told me to contact us again and complain if the money does not arrive in their account within 48 hours. Even after 48 hours the money has not been credited to my bank account, when I contacted the customer service center on the morning of 13.01.2023 and complained, the customer service center official (complaint number :- 177560976) who accepted the complaint and registered said that the problem will be resolved within the next 5 days. But even after 6 days there is no solution.

Going directly to the bank does not solve:

So on 24.01.2023 I personally went to the bank branch and gave a written complaint to the Deputy Manager. He also received the complaint and asked his part to come after a week. Also, I was shocked when I received an SMS saying that my ATM transaction was completed on 28.01.2023 on the online complaint at the customer service center. On 31.01.2023, I went to the bank branch again in person and complained again in writing to the Deputy Manager. said. As he said, when he went to the bank branch again on February 7th and asked to come back three days later, the only thing left was frustration.

It was like the story of Vikramadityan Vedalam!!!

Again as told by the Deputy Manager, Vikramaditan chased Vedalam, on 10.02.2023 he again went to the SBI bank branch in person and met the Deputy Manager to inquire about the status of the complaint, he told me that my ATM transaction was correct on the bank’s side and that the complaint was closed and everything was fine on their side and continued to wave me off for a month. State Bank of India Bank, Mahakavi Bharati Nagar branch officials came around and told me that the complaint of withdrawing money that was not withdrawn from the ATM was closed and it gave me a lot of shock and distress.

I approached the Reserve Bank with no other choice

So, on 10.01.2023, I filed a complaint with the evidence on 10.02.2023 through the Ombudsman Scheme of RBI, seeking a solution to the problem of non-receipt of money when I made a withdrawal transaction at the ATM located at Mahakavi Bharati Nagar State Bank of India Bank branch (Complaint No. N202223006019254). ).

RBI gives pleasant “shock”:

Accepting my complaint, the Reserve Bank conducted a proper investigation within 13 days and ordered the State Bank of India, Mahakavi Bharti Nagar branch to pay Rs. 5,000 and Rs. I would like to inform you that the bank branch management has credited my account with Rs.

Perhaps I would not have got the solution if I had passed by and let the SBI bank branch management’s activities go away. Online complaint to RBI got redressal. So I request everyone to file a complaint online with RBI Complaints Unit along with proofs if their side is true. At this juncture, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to RBI.
