COMPLEX STRUCTURE FOR HYGIENE OF LIVESTOCK AND ZOOTECHNICAL PRODUCTION (SCIAPZ)

The functions of this service are as follows:
1. monitoring the hygienic conditions of farms and animals intended for human consumption;
2. supervision of the administration, production, distribution, transportation of drugs for veterinary use and the use of experimental animals as far as veterinary competence is concerned;
3. supervision and control over the production, transport and use of food for zootechnical use;
4. supervision of specialist veterinary care, as well as of stud farms, artificial insemination facilities, clinics for the treatment of animal sterility and of activities relating to the prevention and treatment of sterility or hypofertility, artificial insemination and animal reproduction;
5. inspection and supervision of facilities for the collection, treatment and disposal of animal by-products;
6. the registration and recognition of milk and dairy product production establishments, in accordance with Regulations (EC) Nos. 852/2004 and 853/2004;
7. official control over the production, processing and marketing of milk and dairy products, in cooperation with the medical prevention department when it comes to food products requiring the expertise of both departments;
8. the registration and recognition of establishments operating in the animal feed sector in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC)
9. supervision and control of compliance with the rules on the protection and welfare of animals in breeding and during transport;
10. supervision of zoological assistance, the practice of the veterinary medical profession, auxiliary veterinary arts and veterinary clinics;
11. the issuing of certifications and the collection of statistical data as far as they are concerned;
12. health education aimed at sector operators and the population.
