Great sadness in Weiz! Defense attorney Alexander Steinlechner died at the age of just 24. The regional league club announced this on social media channels. Last week the defender was in the squad for the Styrian derby against DSC, but a few hours later he suffered a cardiac arrest. He died in hospital this Wednesday.
“Of course we can’t think about football at the moment,” says Weiz coach Alois Hödl. The game against St. Anna that was scheduled for Friday was canceled and there is currently no training in Weiz. “I won’t decide when we play again. The team has to do that. The human aspect is always in the foreground,” says Hödl. “Of course at some point you have to make sure that things continue somehow. But not now.”
