Philippe Diallo, president of the French football federation, did not mince his words after the incidents that occurred before OM-OL on Sunday.

«It’s a scandal, a shame and a deplorable image of a thugs, declared Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, regarding the incidents that occurred before OM-OL on Sunday evening. What I mean is, we won’t let this happen. I don’t want football to fall prey to these thugs who tarnish our image. We will do everything possible with the public authorities to eradicate this phenomenon which shames our country

Three investigations were opened after the incidents which led to the cancellation of the match between Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille on Sunday evening in Marseille, including one for provocation of racial hatred targeting Lyon supporters, announced the prosecutor of Marseille Monday.

The other two relate to the stone crushing of the OL bus, in which coach Fabio Grosso was “seriously” injured, and that of a bus transporting supporters of the Rhone club. The investigation into provoking racial hatred targets the behavior of OL supporters inside the Vélodrome stadium. “Some of the Lyon supporters made a certain number of Nazi salutes and monkey cries aimed at the Marseille supporters,” said public prosecutor Nicolas Bessone during a press conference.
