The first visions in the cinemas and the proposals on demand. Nine films for the weekend: the blockbuster Marvel Black Widow, Michela Cescon’s Blue Eyes, the dramatic Life in a year, the ecological western First Cow, Atlas, the cartoon Spirit – The rebel, Tenet by Christopher Nolan, 10 days without a mother with Fabio De Luigi, Cross and delight with Alessandro Gassmann

The long stop in freezer due to the pandemic did not harm Black Widow, the final chapter of the adventures of Black Widow – Natasha Romanoff, popular super heroine of the Marvel Climatic Universe who came from the Cold War. Last chapter not for Natasha but for her interpreter, Scarlett Johansson, who has held up the character for years with a garra and frown to the point of sacrificing herself in the hecatomb of Avengers: Endgame. You don’t know everything about me: I’ve lived many lives. Before, I made many mistakes in choosing between what the world wants you to be and who you really are. The Soul Stone, source of supreme energy, was fatal to her.
Scarlett now thinks about more busy roles and shuns. It needs new spaces to explore. Beside her there are already those who will take her place in the saga: Florence Pugh, known for Midsummer and the Little Women by Greta Gerwig. Here is Black Widow’s sister, sweet Yelena who tells Nat: Don’t be a mom. In computer language, Cate Shortland’s film would call itself one stand alone, a stand-alone unit. Black Widow dead and buried, honored for the extreme gesture thanks to which she saved the Earth. She is resurrected to tell in reverse how she got to the final battle immediately after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Natasha on the run, chased by General Thunderbolt Ross and the enemy Taskmaster. Hiding is not easy, but her friend Rick Mason (OT Fagbenle) helps her out.
In Norway, all the knots come to a head and, above all, a painful journey into the past begins, through the origins of the Romanoffs, with younger sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), mother Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) and father Alexei Shostakov (David Harbor). Objective: to destroy the dangerous Red Room led by Dreykov (Ray Winstone), incubator of all the Black Widows around the world. It seems strange, but Black Widow a praise of the family, not necessarily of blood, intended as a community of which you are part and that you have helped to develop. Nat confused after the Civil War and the Avengers diaspora, Yelena has just regained her full freedom and in search of ties, Alexei lives in function of a staggered past. Everyone sinks into crowded solitude. The mantra: Pain makes us stronger. Nobody really believes it.
With this in mind, Black Widow suggests the idea that, superheroes or criminals, we are all leaves flapped by the wind of Destiny, the most relentless adversary. Deepens the psychological implications of Natasha, so human in the face of feelings and so tough when it comes to fighting. A feminist heroine who fights male domination. Director Cate Shortland remembers her past as a Russian spy and the impossible missions she starred in. He chooses the path of the coming-of-age story and offers a key to understanding why the beautiful Black Widow decided to sacrifice herself at the end of Endgame. Not everything is explained and not everything is clear in the story, written by Jac Schaeffer and rewritten by Ned Benson during the long gestation of the film. It is clear instead that the film is an enhancement, a monument, a holy card to the intrepid Scarlett Johansson, muscular diva able to take a film on her shoulders and drag it to success.
