Two historic military aircraft collided and crashed into the ground this evening during an air show in Dallas, Texas, federal officials said.
As a result of the serious accident, black smoke billowed into the sky. It is not clear how many people were on board the plane or if anyone on the ground was injured. Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the crash at the Dallas airport.
The two planes collided and crashed around 1:20 p.m. local time, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
The collision occurred during an Air Force memorial service over Dallas. Several videos posted on Twitter showed two planes appearing to collide in mid-air, then both plummeting to the ground, causing a large fire and black smoke to billow into the sky. The Aviation Safety Authority and the National Transportation Safety Board have opened investigations.
