“Scenaria” presents the virtual scenography of Pagliacci directed by Taraborrelli

«Scenaria», the Scenography Festival directed by Maestro Dante Ferretti, presents, as a preview, the innovative virtual staging of the opera “Pagliacci” by Ruggero Leoncavallo, which will be staged at the Carlo Felice theater in Genoa next October, directed by director and set designer Cristian Taraborrelli, in a film by Fabio Massimo Iaquone. For the first time in Europe, augmented reality will be used for the staging of an opera. “Augmented reality gives me the opportunity to change environments, sets, follow and underline the feelings of the singers – explained Cristian Taraborrelli – thanks to technology it is possible to modify and adapt the shots and therefore the sets according to the viewing angle of the cameras. My dream is to have a scenography for each action and for each moment of the work, to go beyond the stage space, a somewhat infinite scenography. Boundless fragments of nature, between the walls that cross shapes, reflections that interrogate expanding architectures, a new emotional three-dimensional space, with different points of view, in which the singers will live their multiple lives observed from the live cameras, digital gazes that tell the story of the work. ” In the video, visible on www.scenariafestival.it, Cristian Taraborrelli tells a preview of his innovative virtual staging, the preparatory stage studies and the potential that this new technology allows to obtain, thanks to the contemporary vision of different points of view and a scenography that goes beyond the limits of the stage. An experimental project carried out in collaboration with Rai Cultura.
