The world of haute couture is buzzing after Schiaparelli’s Spring/Summer 2026 presentation, where creative director Daniel Roseberry unveiled a collection born from an unexpected source of inspiration: a brazen robbery. The designer’s latest work directly responds to the theft of several pieces of jewelry from the Louvre Museum in October 2025, transforming a news story into breathtaking artistry.

A Theft Inspires a Vision

Roseberry recounted to Variety that the idea struck him while commuting home after learning about the Louvre heist. He was captivated by the thought of reinterpreting the stolen artifacts, a concept that ultimately became the driving force behind the collection’s jewelry.

What pieces were stolen from the Louvre? The theft included the tiara, necklace, and earrings of the sapphire set belonging to Maria Amelia of Naples and Sicily, the emerald necklace and earrings of Maria Luisa of Austria, a reliquary brooch, a large bow brooch, and the tiara of Eugenia de Montijo—a total of eight significant pieces.

Blending History and Fantasy

The presentation, held at the Petit Palais in Paris, drew a star-studded crowd including Demi Moore, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, and Jeff Bezos. Roseberry’s designs weren’t simply replicas; he honored the original essence of the stolen jewels while adding his signature three-dimensional details and opulent flourishes. The designer delved into Schiaparelli’s own archives, drawing inspiration from accessories created in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s to seamlessly merge the house’s DNA with the historical significance of the French crown jewels.
