Some 20 thousand young people from the different districts of the municipality of San Salvador will participate in various activities organized by the Municipal Youth Institute (IMJ) and the capital’s mayor’s office.
The IMJ announced this morning that it has a varied program during the month of August to celebrate youth, which commemorates its day every August 12.
From the 8th to the 31st of this month there will be activities such as: scholarship delivery, theater performances, youth gathering, tour to municipal parks by Metrobus, art, music, dance, free cinema and volunteering, among other activities.
One of the most important activities will take place next Tuesday, August 26, where some young people will be councilors for a day. This new experience will allow the boys to experience how the Municipal Council makes decisions for projects and the operation of the community. Another of the events scheduled for the month is the “Somos IMJ” Rally that will take place in Bicentenario Park.
Since 1999, Youth Day has been celebrated internationally, after the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the recommendation of the World Conference of Ministers in charge of Youth that August 12 be declared youth day. .
