Scholarships from the American College of Guatemala 2024 for high school studies

In October, the American School of Guatemala CAG will be carrying out the informative talks about the scholarships offered to students in Guatemala to secondary school studies. The program, which is named Young Scholars Academy YSAis aimed at students with high academic performance.

This initiative, which is carried out annually, seeks to select 15 students to complete their 9th grade studies. to 12th grade, equivalent to second grade to high schoolgiving them the opportunity to be part of a high-quality educational program, based on the methodologies and academic practices of the United States.

Students will obtain two diplomas in four years

The YSA scholarship program offers selected students a four year scholarship. Upon completion, the scholarship recipients will obtain two diplomas: one of Bachelor of Science and Letters granted by the Ministry of Education of Guatemala and another of High Schoolissued by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Requirements to apply: What do you need to apply?

Students interested in applying to this prestigious program must meet certain academic requirements:

  1. Have completed and passed the 8th. grade, that is, first grade, during the 2024 school year.
  2. Be enrolled in second grade for the 2025 school year.
  3. Have passed all sixth and first grade courses with a minimum of 85 points, excluding retake exams.
  4. Maintain excellent conduct and an impeccable disciplinary record.

In addition to these requirements, applicants must present a series of documents that support their application:

  • Recent ID-sized photographs, in color and black and white.
  • Copy of the birth certificate with the identification number —CUI—.
  • Copy of sixth and first grade report cards.
  • Original certificate of good conduct issued by the current school principal.
  • Copy of a house electricity, water or telephone bill.

Key dates of the application process

The application process for the scholarships that will be awarded in 2025 will begin in October 2024. It is important that you take the following dates into account:

Information sessions:

  • Virtual: Wednesday, October 23 at 6:00 pm
  • In person: Saturday, October 26 at 8:00 am

Stationery reception

  • From November 25 to December 3, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • From January 3 to 10, at the same time.
