School: Aurélien Pradié pleads for the return of a “single dress code”

Should we take the good old uniform out of the closet? Deputy Aurélien Pradié, candidate for the presidency of the Republicans (LR), pleads in the Journal du Dimanche for the return of “single dress” at school, seeing it as a way to “restore secularism and equality of departure” between the children.

“To shelter our school from the noise of the world, I propose that all children wear the same outfit in the school of the Republic, schools, colleges and high schools”, declared the deputy of Lot to the weekly.

Claiming to have “no nostalgia for the blouses of yesteryear”, Pradié nevertheless ensures that he sees in the uniform a way of “restoring secularism and equality from the start between the children of the Republic”.

“The situation of our school is catastrophic”

“Unique clothing will help stop all religious, Islamist, community and even political incursions that are too neglected. In college or high school, certain outfits are all political slogans that have no place there, ”he further argued.

Judging that “the situation of our school is catastrophic”, the deputy of Lot announced that he would send “this week a national letter” to teachers and parents.

The one who appears to be an outsider for the head of LR, facing Éric Ciotti and Bruno Retailleau, proposes in particular to abandon the objective of 80% success in the baccalaureate and rolls out a series of measures, including the establishment of “ merit scholarships” in “each college and high school”.

The vote of the militants on December 3 and 4

“A child will no longer have to go to sixth grade if he does not master the basic knowledge, which will have to be certified by an exam,” he added. He also suggests that “when there are at least three children with disabilities in a class, there are two teachers, one of whom is a specialist, in support of the accompanying persons”.

The right must set out again to conquer our teachers”, Mr. Pradié further pleaded, judging that they “are confronted every day with what we denounce: the collapse of authority and the rise of communitarianism”.

“I want us to recreate a Republic Normal Schoolwhich will train all teachers, issue certification to middle and high school teachers and again provide continuing education,” he added.

Mr. Pradié, like Mr. Ciotti and Mr. Retailleau, will be heard by the LR “parliament” on November 26, before a vote by activists on December 3 and 4.
