He Tax Administration Service (SAT) reminded parents and taxpayers that payments for school tuition and transportation are tax deductible.

The agency insisted that these are deductible expenses in the annual declaration of individuals. It also highlighted that this benefit applies to spouses, concubines, relatives, ascendants or descendants online or for themselves.

He explained that the deduction of tuition fees is in accordance with the level of education taken in private educational institutions with authorization or recognition of official validity of studies, according to the registry of schools that issue receipts with fiscal requirements.

The annual limits are:
● Preschool: 14,200 pesos
● Primary: 12,900 pesos
● Secondary: 19,900 pesos
● Technical professional: 17,100 pesos
● High school diploma or equivalent: 24,500 pesos

“To obtain this benefit, the invoice must include the tuition supplement for the educational institution, where the payment of tuition and school transportation is broken down“, added the SAT.

In addition, payment must be made by check, electronic transfer from the taxpayer’s bank account, or by credit, debit or service card. The deduction does not apply if payment is made in cash.
