School learning activities that have fully begun today island-wide

School learning activities in Sri Lanka, which were suspended islandwide due to the Govt infection, have resumed fully today.

So far, the academic activities of students in grades 6 to 9 have started from today. Prior to this, classes were started for students from Class I to Class V and from Class 10 to Advanced Level.

All classes in the schools have been open since today. The schools, which had been suspended due to the spread of the Govt-19 epidemic, were reopened in four phases based on health recommendations.

In the first phase, the primary divisional grades of schools with 200 students, the primary divisional grades of all schools under the second phase and the ordinary and higher standard of all schools under the third phase were introduced.

Following this, under the fourth phase, educational activities for grade 6, 7, 8, 9 students in all schools have started today, Monday (22).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has decided to make some changes in the preparation of the Scholarship Examination, the General Standard Ordinary Level and the Higher Secondary Examination question papers.

The decision was taken in view of the disruption to school education activities due to the spread of the Govt virus, said LMD, Additional Secretary, School Affairs, Ministry of Education. Dharmasena had said.

He said the decision was taken considering that the academic activities of the students have been affected for the last 2 years as a result of the Govt spread.

Health Services Director Asela Gunawardena has appealed to parents to refrain from sending students to schools with symptoms such as fever and colds.

Meanwhile, Joseph Stalin, the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers ‘Union, has stated that if the teachers’ and principals have been engaged in a trade union struggle for the past few days with various demands, union action will be taken again if a solution is not found in January.
