Sivagangai: Students and teachers escaped after the roof of a classroom collapsed during the term vacation at Venkaipatti Middle School near Singampunari in Sivagangai district.
With more than 140 students studying in this school, one of the three phases was in danger of collapsing. It has not been demolished till date despite public complaints many times. A warning notice has been posted to prevent anyone from entering.
Meanwhile, classes were going on in two nearby buildings amid the crisis. However, when the cleaning staff opened a building to clean the school when the schools started, they found the roof above the teacher’s seat had collapsed and the chairs were broken into hundreds of pieces. The authorities were immediately informed and the students were shifted to another remaining building.
