Schoolchildren from Russia won gold at the International Mathematics Olympiad

Russian schoolchildren won two gold and two silver medals at the international Romanian Master of Mathematics Olympiad, which took place in the Romanian capital. Leadership in the overall team standings was shared by Russia and China, according to the website of the Ministry of Education of Russia.

135 people from 22 countries took part in the Mathematics Olympiad. Poland, the USA and the Republic of Korea also became prize-winners of the competition.

Ivan Bakharev and Maxim Turgenev received gold medals, schoolchildren study in the 11th grade of the President’s Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239 of St. Petersburg. Silver medals were awarded to Aidar Ibragimov, a graduate of the Moscow State University Kolmogorov boarding school, and Danil Sibgatullin, a graduate of Moscow school No. 1589.

The International Olympiad Romanian Master of Mathematics has been held annually in Bucharest since 2008. The competitions take place over two days, in each of the rounds it is necessary to solve three tasks in 4.5 hours.
