The future of medicine can sometimes be disturbing, this time we tell you that some Scientists created the first human organ inside an animal.

A group of Chinese scientists together with a Spanish researcher published a study in the specialized journal Cell Stem Cell where they detail their findings.

The researchers reported that they were able to “grow” a human kidney inside a 28-day gestation pig embryo. However, this kidney is not functional, as it is a more rudimentary “kidney.”

The experts achieved this feat by inserting human kidney cells into the body of the embryo so that it would grow with it, however it did not reach term, since that is a step further that also faces ethical obstacles for making a “chimera” of a human with a pig. .

Although the experiment could not go further, the fact that human cells could grow inside the pig embryo is considered a significant advance.

And this, in addition to sounding strange, can be controversial, since one of the objectives is, through this technology, to have “inexhaustible organ deposits” in the bodies of other mammals.

Of course this opens the debate about animal rights and whether or not these experiments generate some type of suffering in the animal.

What are the most common organ transplants?

The Pan American Health Organization shared some figures about organ transplants:

The most common transplant was the cornea along with the kidney, which is precisely the human organ that scientists created inside an animal.

The other most commonly transplanted organ was the liver.

What is the only organ that cannot be transplanted?

Currently, technology and medicine have made considerable advances, making it possible for most organs in the human body to be transplanted.

However, the only organ that has been practically impossible to transplant is the brain, since the connections of the nervous system are too precise and difficult to achieve.

What people cannot donate organs?

He Mexican Social Security Institute points out that people who cannot donate organs meet the following characteristics:

People who have a decrease or loss of their physical and mental faculties or who are dependent on another person for their careMinors, unless the transplant is bone marrow and in which case the consent of the person in charge of the minor will be requestedPeople who are deprived by law of the exercise of their rights, these people cannot donate organs in life or in death

Now that you know more about the scientists who created the first human organ inside an animalDo you think this is a good idea? Would you accept an organ that was created in a non-human animal?
