A group of scientists from the University of Dusseldorf came to the conclusion that the first organisms on Earth could use hydrogen as their only source of energy. According to the proposed assumption, these creatures were in conditions similar to those observed in the vicinity of the Atlantic geothermal source called “The Lost City”.
According to experts, hydrogen supply would allow 95-97 percent of the reactions to occur spontaneously in the first organisms, and they would not depend on factors such as sunlight.
The research was published in the scientific journal Frontiers in Microbiology.
