Seismologist Benjamin Fernando and his colleagues suggested that the sounds Loeb’s team used to determine the location of the meteor impact may have come not from the meteor itself, but from a passing truck, reducing the likelihood of the samples being alien in origin.
Despite doubts in the scientific community, Loeb remains optimistic and stoically defends his findings. He points out that his team used not only audio data, but also satellite information provided by the US military. These data confirm that the meteor came from outer space beyond our solar system.
