SCJN agrees to maintain strike until publication of reform in the DOF

In a private session held on Thursday, the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) took note of the agreement reached by the Colleges of Secretaries and Secretaries as well as Young Law Students and New Professionals, regarding lifting the suspension of work as of the publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation of the Decree of constitutional reform in Matters of the Judicial Branch.

The Minister President Norma Lucía Piña Hernández called a session for next Tuesday, September 17. The Plenary determined that this Friday the 13th the necessary guards will be maintained and the processing of urgent matters will be carried out according to the criteria of the Ministers who are responsible for providing services within the scope of their competence.

The reform fulfilled the requirement of being endorsed by more than 17 local congresses, so it only needs to be declared constitutional and sent to the Executive so that it can be promulgated and published, which could happen this Sunday.

The country’s judges and magistrates are on an indefinite strike to oppose judicial reform.
