A 16 year old student from Attikulam, Manapparai, Trichy district is studying in 11th standard. He has returned home in the evening after finishing writing the final exam at school yesterday. When the student came near the railway flyover on Trichy road, a youth who had misled him took a knife and stabbed the student in more than 10 places in the body and the incident caused a great stir. Neighbors rushed the student to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation has revealed that last year, a young man named Kesavan (22) took away the student with the word ‘desire’ to marry him and the police registered a case against him and imprisoned him. Kesavan, who was recently released from jail on bail, revealed that the stabbing incident took place during an argument over repeatedly forcing a student to remarry. Following this, the Manapparai police were actively searching for the missing Kesavan.
Meanwhile, police received information at midnight that a youth was hit and killed by a train on the Pusaripatti railway track, about 2 km from the place where the student was stabbed. Subsequently, the Trichy Railway Police and the Manapparai Police visited the spot. Immediately, the police suspected that the deceased may have been a hairdresser involved in the stabbing incident. He then summoned his father to the police station to confirm that his son Kesavan was dead. Kesavan’s body was sent to Manapparai Government Hospital for autopsy. Trichy Railway Police have registered a case and are investigating.
