SketchUp Pro 2025 Users Report Zooming Issues, Graphics Drivers Suspected
A growing number of users of SketchUp Pro 2025 are reporting visual anomalies—described as “cracking” or “jumping” screens—when zooming within the 3D modeling software. The issue, first noted on December 1, 2025, appears to manifest as unexpected cross-sections appearing at a distance or the screen abruptly shifting during zoom operations.
Initial troubleshooting suggestions centered on the model’s geometry and user input. One respondent suggested the problem could stem from geometry positioned too far from the origin point within the SketchUp environment, or from excessive force applied to the scrolling wheel. Another proposed the issue might be related to perspective projection and the camera inadvertently moving inside an object, leading to clipping of hidden geometry.
However, the problem persisted for one user who clarified the issue on December 2, 2025, stating they were experiencing screen jumps and cross-sections appearing during zoom, even when working with relatively small models positioned near the origin. The user noted the issue began after implementing a new style template. “For the past few days, I’ve been experiencing an issue where…the screen jumps or a cross section appears at a fairly distant point when I zoom in,” they explained.
To aid in diagnosis, the user shared a model file exhibiting the problem. A subsequent review by another user, identified as “DaveR,” did not replicate the issue. “I’m not seeing what you describe,” DaveR stated on December 2, 2025. “I do get clipping when I zoom in too close but that’s with the camera moving into the model.”
This discrepancy led the affected user to suspect a problem specific to their installation of SketchUp Pro 2025. DaveR suggested a potential solution: updating to SketchUp 2026, contingent on an active subscription. However, the user explained their company’s continued reliance on version 2025 prevents an immediate upgrade. DaveR further posited that the issue could be traced to the user’s graphics card and its associated drivers.
The user acknowledged the possibility of a graphics driver issue, expressing gratitude for the suggestion on December 2, 2025. While a definitive solution remains elusive, the investigation points toward a potential incompatibility between SketchUp Pro 2025 and certain graphics card configurations, highlighting the importance of maintaining up-to-date drivers for optimal performance.
