Animated Series “Scroll of the Winans” to Explore Gospel Music Legacy

A new animated series, “Scroll of the Winans: A Journey with Asher and Isaiah,” is set to reimagine the history of the celebrated Winans family, a cornerstone of gospel music. The project, announced by 5-0 Studios London, is adapted from the forthcoming film series Thankful, currently in development.

According to a company release, the series will unfold through the perspectives of 11-year-old boys Asher and Isaiah Winans. Their journey will traverse generations of the Winans family, revealing pivotal moments of resilience, faith, and dedication that propelled the family to prominence.

A Journey Through Generations

The narrative centers on the encounter between Asher, described as “the Angel,” and Isaiah Winans. Together, they will witness the formative experiences that shaped the Winans’ musical legacy. “As Scripture comes alive and scrolls glow with every act of surrender, the boys uncover a greater truth: this was never about fame — it was about a covenant,” the release states. This suggests a thematic focus on the spiritual foundations of the Winans’ success, moving beyond a simple recounting of their musical achievements.

The project’s scope extends beyond the animated series. A 12-book companion series, “Isaiah – Walking with the Winans,” has also been inspired by the project, indicating a comprehensive effort to engage audiences across multiple platforms.

Production and Creative Leadership

Melanie Greene and 5-0 Studios London will executive produce the series, alongside Michael Winans Sr., who also serves as an executive producer for Thankful. This collaborative leadership structure suggests a strong commitment to authenticity and a deep understanding of the Winans family’s story.

The involvement of individuals with diverse backgrounds, such as L’Wren – described as a journalist, antique shop owner, and aspiring gemologist – hints at a unique creative vision for the animation. Her varied passions are expected to infuse “every frame” with a distinctive perspective.

The “Scroll of the Winans” promises a fresh and engaging exploration of a significant chapter in gospel music history, offering audiences a deeper understanding of the faith and values that underpinned the Winans family’s enduring impact.
