Scrutiny of helicopter brothers’ bank accounts in fraud case: Economic Crime Branch

Aquarius: Today (March 17) the officers of the Economic Crime Prevention Unit conducted an investigation into the bank accounts of the helicopter brothers from Kumbakonam.

MR Ganesh (51) belongs to Dikshithar Estate, Srinagar Colony, Kumbakonam. His brother MR Swaminathan (48), both of them were running a financial institution from their home. Also, they were called the helicopter brothers because they owned a helicopter. Many people invested crores of rupees in Kumbakonam area after being told that if they invest in their financial institution, they will get double money in one year.

Many people from Kumbakonam lodged a complaint with the Thanjavur District Superintendent of Police, claiming that the money had been invested and not returned. Based on the complaint, the district crime branch police registered a case and arrested some people including Mr. Ganesh and Mr. Swaminathan in 2021.

While all of them are out on bail, DSP Muthukumar and Inspector Sudha of the Economic Crime Prevention Division are investigating the accounts and jewelery in their names at the bank in Kumbakonam yesterday and today. Due to this, the Kumbakonam area has become agitated.
